The Kaiser-i-Hind (Teinopalpus imperalis) is a species of swallowtail highly prized by collectors.
The emerald scales are unique in their photonic structure and as a result it is studied intensely.
Distribution[]
This butterfly has a scattered and local distribution that occupies Nepal, Bhutan and the eastern Himalayas. It is also known from northern Vietnam, Burma and Sichuan province of China.
Habitat[]
The species lives in high-altitude forests. It is not usually found in open areas.
